Whats New in 2017
Our long term patients know we are always striving to stay current or ahead of our peers in providing the latest technology to deliver the best eye care. Here is what is new for 2017.
Red eyes are misdiagnosed by skilled eye doctors up to 50% of the time as viral and bacterial conjunctivitis presents with the same signs and symptoms. It is important to know if you have a highly contagious viral conjunctivitis (Bob Costas 2014 Olympics) where you need to stay home from work or school to avoid spreading it, or a bacterial conjunctivitis where you can safely return to work once antibiotics are initiated for 24 hours. To insure we get the diagnosis and treatment right, and get your eyes cleared up as quickly as possible, we have added the AdenoPlus test that takes the guesswork out of diagnosing a red eye.
Here is a video of the AdenoPlus procedure:
Patients really dread the air puff test, if they are squinting in anticipation (which everyone does) it lowers the accuracy of the test. We have added the ivue gentle tonometer which is very gentle and most importantly has no air puff. Patients who have had their eye pressures tested with the ivue tonometer have very positive reviews on how comfortable it is compared to the air puff.
Here is a video comparing the force of an air puff to an ivue tonometer. Warning is this video is pretty graphic and likely to make your eyes water watching it.
